BATAM – Miftahur Rabbani Islamic Boarding School in Batam was established in 2011 by KH. Asep Ahmad Rabbany Hidayat (AA Rabbani).
The pesantren implements an integrated curriculum that combines Islamic boarding school education with intensive Qur’an and kitab kuning (classical Islamic texts) studies.
Teaching and learning activities are carried out under the guidance of professional teachers and ustadz who are graduates of various Islamic boarding schools and universities.
“It is time for us to develop and implement a quality, professional, balanced, and future-oriented education system based on faith and piety,” said AA Rabbani, Head of Miftahur Rabbani Islamic Boarding School, located in Bengkong District, Batam City, Riau Islands.
AA Rabbani explained that in building an Islamic cultural and civilizational system, the pesantren upholds the Panca Jiwa Pondok, namely sincerity, simplicity, independence, ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood), and openness.
“In addition, we also uphold the pesantren motto: noble character, physical strength, broad knowledge, and open-mindedness.
With these basic principles, we aim to improve students’ intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence,” he added.
Miftahur Rabbani Islamic Boarding School currently provides three levels of education: Ula (equivalent to elementary level), Wustha (junior secondary level), and Ulya (senior secondary level).
At these three levels, students focus on mastering Islamic sciences such as fiqh, hadith, Arabic, tafsir, crafts, and tajwid. They are also encouraged to develop their talents in arts and sports.
Although the curriculum emphasizes religious studies, students will receive an equivalency diploma according to their level of education.
“In this era of globalization, the nation needs facilities that can produce superior, resilient, and qualified Muslim cadres with an Islamic mindset.
We hope this pesantren can become a source of hope for the community, especially in Batam City, while also supporting government programs in educating the nation’s children,” he concluded.
